Here's a strange question, Can you share a CD burner and burn across a network??? I have a burner in my machine, the wife wants to burn from her machine to my burner. Is this possible? Anyone ever done it??? Is a network connection fast enough to keep up with, say 40x burning?

No, unfortunately the local computer won't recognize a mapped drive as a burner as the ASPI layer for that driver won't be loaded locally. _________________

Do you need a fast one? I have an 8x that I don't use since I upgraded to a 40x20x48. _________________

If she wants to be on your machine, she can burn files from hers simply by mapping the drive to your rig. But to remotely control your burner from her machine isn't going to happen as Cheezy explained.

The MP3's she wants to burn exist on my machine, she accesses them from a mapped drive. But without the ability to control the burner, its a no go.

Even if you do, they are cheap now! Saw one in the NewEgg add right here for like $33 I think.. Man they have come down!
Either that... OR ... give her yours and go get you a DVD burner _________________
