Did anybody notice most, if not all companies give MIR in the form of Debit cards now? It seems more convenient at first, as you don't have to go to the bank to deposit a $10, $20 check, but just don't go over the balance on the card or else you will be hit with $15, $25 penalty fee! It would have been easier if they set a limit on the card so the charge is automatically declined if you are going to go over, but of course they won't do that, as they won't get to make money on the penalty they can charge. I guess that's how the banks are paying to repaying billions in debts. The trick when you get the card is to call the customer service number in the back and demand they send you a check for the balance of the card. If enough people do this, then it won't be worthwhile for them to offer to send the card out for free and will just go back to sending checks. |
