Hi. My name is Michael. I'm not a technically literate guy so bear with me. I'm having a serious problem with my Sony Digital Handcam, model DCR-TRV350 NTSC. It uses Hi8 cassettes. The problem: The tapes are not loading. The tape transport fully opens and closes when there's no tape in the transport, but when a tape is inserted, the transport begins to close but abruptly stops. The battery appears to be fully charged. I hadn't used it in several months. Any suggestions? I'm leaving for vacation in a week and the wife is irritated I haven't solved the problem yet...thanks for any help.

Not to ask a stupid question (never can assume anything when dealing with technology!)...are you putting the tapes in correctly? Honest question...so please don't get upset.

Those crafty Sony engineers must have seen me coming because they designed it so as to allow the tape to slide into the transport correctly or not at all. I know this because I just tested your certainly not stupid question. So, any other ideas guys?
