Raidmax RX-9 ATX Gaming Case
January 24, 2006

Testing:

To test the thermal properties of the Raidmax RX-9, I installed the following equipment:

» AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor
» ECS KN1 SLI Extreme motherboard (default settings)
» 2 - BFG Technologies GeForce 6600GT OC PCI-Express in SLI
» 2gb (4x512) Samsung 3200 DDR
» 2 - Seagate 80gb SATA
» 1 - Hitachi 120gb SATA
» Memorex DVD/CDRW
» Cooler Master CoolDrive 4 (used to take temperatures and fan speed)

The default (maximum) speed for the 80mm side panel fan is 2090RPM. With the fan controller you could turn it down to as low as 660RPM. So, you have a wide range of fan speeds available. The front and rear fans were not controlled, but even with all three of the fans running at their default speeds, they are quiet.

To take the load temperatures, the following applications were run for several hours:

» EverQuest 2
» Folding@Home 4.0
» Sisoft Sandra 2005 Burn In Wizard

Here you can see the various temperatures reported by the Cooler Master CoolDrive IV. All temperatures were taken at the default speeds shown above, with a thermal lead at the bottom of the case. Idle temperatures were recorded 2 hours after the load temperatures.
