Corsair XMS TWINX2048-4000PT 2GB Dual Channel DDR Kit
December 19, 2005

Benchmarks:

Both sets of RAM were run with the settings quoted on the previous page (265MHz with a CPU multiplier of 9 for a final testing frequency of 2395MHz, 2.7Vdimm, an HTT of 4X, and timings of 3,4,4,8 2T.), no changes were made to BIOS after switching sets.

First I ran a few Sisoft Sandra memory bandwidth tests to see how the throughput would be affected by adding another GB of RAM to the system. As you can see, Sandra barely could tell there was a difference.

Next, as a verification of the Sandra bandwidth measurement, I ran the same kind of test in Everest Home; here we do see a slight decrease in bandwidth from the 2GB to the 1GB set.

Does higher bandwidth always equal higher framerates in games and 3d applications? Time to run a few versions of Futuremark's 3DMark programs to see if we can grab a few extra frame rates by doubling our system ram.

First up is 3DMark01, not too much modern technology is used here, but as you can see, the scores are only 2 Marks apart, I would call that a dead heat.
