Results:
First we'll address the results from the three synthetic benchmarks, all from the 3DMark family.
3DMark03 - 3DMark03 is the oldest of the Futuremark series that we will look at, but it is still commonly used to analyze gaming performance. According to the Futuremark website... "The high quality game tests, image quality tests, sound tests and others give you an extremely accurate overview of your system’s current gaming performance." The results, presented in unitless "Marks", are shown below for the Basic version of this benchmark (higher is better).
The first thing you will notice (and continue to see throughout the benchmarks) is that the X600 XT and X800 GTO weren't as closely matched as the specifications may have indicated. The next thing worth noting is that the X800 GTO does well at default speeds, but has plenty more to offer with a bit of overclocking.
3DMark05 - 3DMark05 is the follow up to 3DMark03, and although not the latest any more, it is still a solid test for modern cards. The results, presented in unitless "Marks", are shown below for the Basic version of this benchmark (higher is better).
3DMark06 - 3DMark06 is the latest in the series of video benchmarks created by FutureMark. It is a serious test for even the most modern cards and puts some serious stress on a card as it tries to get through. The results, presented in unitless "Marks", are shown below for the Basic version of this benchmark (higher is better).
None of these scores will threaten for high honors with some of the top of the line cards out there, but for just over $100, the results are pretty impressive so far!
