NHJ MPM-201 30GB MPEG4 Personal Video Recorder

Installation:

Installation of the MPM-201 is very easy. We all know how to plug in a USB cable to connect the unit to a computer. I'm sure you can also figure out how to connect the other cables to the docking cradle. There isn't much for the actual installation of the unit, but the setup of the unit's options is a different story.

The first thing you have to do is charge the unit. Once that is done, other than loading files to the unit, it is practically ready to go right out of the box. There are a few settings you can adjust, with one that is more important than the others.

The only setting that is required to be addresses is the date and time. Realistically, you don't have to set this, but if you want to use the DVR function, you better set it correctly. Setting the options took a matter of minutes to do. Using the joy-pad and the OK button you can set it to your personal preference.

Other than the clock, the only other option that I would say is almost a requirement is to turn off the "Key Beep Sound". With this turned on, every time you press a button, or the joy-pad, you get a loud beep sound. This became rather annoying very quickly.

Since the player is 100% DivX certified, you will find the DivX Video on Demand registration code on the settings menu.

While basic, the settings menu does provide you with plenty of options to set the MPM-201 up to your individual needs.

The last thing you have to do is to put some files onto the player. This is as simple as dragging your files into the appropriate folder on the player. They are named so it is obvious which file types go into which folder. The main folders are named "My Music", "My Videos", and "My Photos".

Now that it's all loaded and set up, it's time to take a look at the rest of the player. Let's take a quick look at the menu. Here you can see all the main options on the player. "My Movies" is for all your videos, "My Photo" contains all of your photos, "My Music" will provide you a list of all your music, "My Voice" is where any voice recordings you create will be stored, "File Manager" is the typical file manager which will allow you to modify your files, "TV Mode" will only be active when the player is in the cradle, and the final option "Settings" which is represented by a little wrench in the lower right corner.
