The enclosure itself is heavier than I expected and feels sturdy. The aluminum part of the enclosure is made from extruded aluminum and is not quite 1/8" thick. It measures 8 ¾" long, 5 ¼" wide and 1 ½" tall. Mounting the drive in its vertical stand puts it at 5 ¾" tall. On the front of the enclosure are 4 cooling slots and a single green LED showing the drive is powered up. Out back is the SATA connector, a DIN style power connection, a power switch, and a cutout for an optional 20mm fan.
Installing a hard drive in this enclosure is a simple feat, however it did not happen without a bit of confusion. Pulling the two screws off the back gives access to the inside of the enclosure. Inside was a small bag of screws, a few sticky feet for the enclosure, and a small bag of desiccant with the mandatory "DO NOT EAT" warning for those that think it makes a great pizza topping.
On the business end is a circuit board with SATA data and power connectors, and a lead traveling the length of the enclosure for the indicator light.
Mounting the hard drive is as easy as sliding the drive into place on the SATA data and power connectors and screwing it down to the internal frame from the bottom.
