The Basics:
There isn't much included in the box for accessories. You have a single USB-to-iPod cable, ear-bud earphones, a little leather sleeve, and the install CD. Nothing too exciting, I actually expected a little more, such as a docking cradle and/or an AC adaptor.
Removing the iPod Video from the package, I will take a look at the specifics of the 30GB model. The front of the iPod Video gives you a good view of most of the controls. You have the standard iPod touch wheel, which happens to be the main controls. If you're familiar with the iPods, this wheel will be no surprise to you. You either click it, or run your finger over it for various functions. In the center of the wheel is a single select button. Your other option for controlling the iPod Video is the optional remote and docking cradle (discussed later).
The top of the unit contains the only other control, which is a hold button. I found this to be more useful on the iPod than I have on other players. The touch wheel is sensitive, and I found the unit turning on while traveling. The only other item of any consequence on the top is the multi-purpose jack. This jack works as a headphone jack, and as an AV jack (using the optional AV cable).
The bottom of the unit has the connection port. You can use the included USB-to-iPod cable, or purchase an optional docking cradle.
The back and sides of the player are pretty unremarkable. Well, other than the beautiful shine to them. On the back you do get a nice Apple logo, the storage capacity of the player, and your serial number. There is a lot of unused room on the back.
