The Basics (continued):
The next few pictures take a look at the pump/waterblock/reservoir combo unit. The first two look down on to the device, which shows off the pump/reservoir portion. I am unsure I should really call it a reservoir, as although some fluid is stored here, more can be found in either the tubes or the radiator. The black plastic housing is fastened to the copper waterblock by a metal plate, and most likely some good gasketing material. Power for the pump is provided by a 3-pin fan connector, and due to the low draw it can be plugged right in to a fan header on your motherboard.
 
The above right image shows the fittings on the pump, and they are the same as on the radiator. A simple squeeze (with pliers) loosens the clamp enough for it to be removed. You can then remove the tubing if you desire, or more importantly, you can add more fluid. One connection has a blind piece of tubing that doubles as the fill port. Although they claim you can go 2 years before needing a refill, I could hear a bit of sloshing around, and after testing I added a bit of HydrX water cooling fluid to top it off. One issue is that refilling will be all but impossible with the block in place. Once installed on a CPU, I see no way of adding more fluid without making a big mess.
The images below take a look at the waterblock portion of the pump unit, which features a solid copper base. The whole surface has been machined from one piece, and the raised area intended to contact your processor has a very nice finish to it. As you can see in the below right image, it is very smooth, and quite flat, which should allow for decent heat transfer. The four threaded holes directly surrounding the mirror-like surface are used for mounting the bracket that holds the cooler to a variety of processors/motherboards.
 
The next two images show the balance of the components you receive with the Cooler Master Aquagate Mini R80. In the below left image we have things such as 3-pin to 4-pin adaptors for the fan and pump, various mounting hardware, mounting pads, a PCI bracket for the fan speed controller, and the multi-lingual manual. The below right image shows all of the mounting brackets, making this about the most universal cooler I have reviewed. You have clips for all modern AMD processors (Socket A, 754, 939, 940) and Intel processors (Socket 478, 775, and even Xeon).
