With a SilentWings 3 fan, better voltage stability and even more watts at the same price

Glinde, September 16th, 2014 - be quiet! the market leader for PC power supplies in Germany for eight successive years*, today announced its brand new Straight Power 10 series. These new power supplies feature an extremely quiet and brand new 135 mm SilentWings 3 fan. Voltage stability has been improved by extending the PSU’s topology with DC-to-DC. The overall wattage has been increased and a high-quality PFC capacitor has been installed to prevent high-frequency noise.

The previous generation Straight Power E9 was the best seller for be quiet!. Now, be quiet! is introducing the next step in the Straight Power series. The German based company and design team was focused on improving the earlier product in every critical performance parameter.

Noise Levels

The new power supply units are equipped with a revised cooling system, including a 135 mm SilentWings 3-fan with a high-quality Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB). This fan has been developed by be quiet! exclusively for use in power supplies. The new six-pole motor and the FDB not only provide an exceptionally long lifespan, but silent operation as well. The funnel-shaped, larger air inlet of the SilentWings 3 increases airflow, while reducing unwanted turbulence. Thanks to the larger diameter the same amount of air can be transported at lower fan speeds and at lower noise level. By using a high-quality PFC capacitor, high-frequency noise is also prevented. Changes to the secondary-side capacitors as well, help combat noise being generated when the graphics card in a system undergoes extreme changes in electrical load.

Topology Extension

All Straight Power 10 models are certified 80PLUS Gold, which means efficiencies of up to 93%. The Straight Power 10 series uses the current ‘Active Clamp + SR (Synchronous Rectifier)’ topology for power supplies. This uses Integrated Circuit (IC) controllers to monitor the power supply – ensuring optimal performance. Voltage regulation for 3.3v and 5.0v is further improved by the integration of additional DC-to-DC technology – ensuring the best possible crossload behavior.

Multi-GPU and safety functions

Straight Power 10 models feature four independent 12V rails to ensure best distribution of power, the 400 Watts model has three. It is no problem to power multi graphic processor systems with these power supplies. And they provide maximum built-in safety protection to safeguard valuable components and data; over current (OCP), over voltage (OVP), under voltage (UVP), short circuit (SCP), over power (OPP) and over temperature (OTP).

“Our design team has successfully improved all major parts of the power supply”, said Stanislav Minkin, CEO of be quiet! “The new Straight Power 10 is even quieter, has better voltage stability and provide more watts for the same price!”.

Once again, be quiet! gives consumers the popular choice of with or without cable management. The regular version with fixed cables comes in four models: 400, 500, 600 and 700 Watts. The four models with cable management, which allow users to customize the cabling inside their PC, are available in 500, 600, 700 and 800 Watts. Estimated prices (including VAT) start at €70,00 for the 400 Watts version and range up to 145,00 € for the 800 Watts version with cable management.

In the USA and Canada only the Straight Power 10 with cable management will be available first. Estimated prices start at 109,90 US dollars for the 500 Watts version and range up to 169,90 US dollars for the 800 Watts version.
