| Just to let people know, that following the advice of this article can get you fired at work as well as may expose your company to security risks. Knowingly employing techniques to go around the security of your company, may also make you personally liable for any financial losses that are the result of your actions. |

Agreed, I've seen several people get escorted out of my company due to circumventing internet firewall/security policies. Then again, they also get escorted out if they have ANY music or video files on their drives... |

You must be posting from somewhere on the ball if they have them blocked. I'm not 100% sure if you are using a proxy to post here, but the address looks like it... so at least they didn't block us! |

I had a position that did not have web filters in place but many of my friends in other departments were not as fortunate. I did not see www.ktunnel.com on the list, that one was pretty popular around the office. Incidentally, the list of proxies in the article no longer works (I understand it was published September 2007). If you are concerned about using proxy sites, another option would be a USB flash drive with a portable embedded browser such as Google Chrome. _________________ ■ Silverstone SG02-F ■ AMD X2 7750 @ 3.2GHz ■ Biostar TA790GX XE µATX ■ Coolermaster GeminII S ■ 2x 2GB G.Skill DDR2 1066 ■ Galaxy 8800GT 512MB ■ Corsair HX520 ■ 2x 250GB Western Digital SE16 ■ |

We built a utility to block all non-approved flash drives, it checks a database and if you're not approved for it, and not using the approved model it is disabled and gets reported
Then again, our legal department made us unblock Facebook, MySpace, etc. Something about being used for recruiting and freedom of speech or something |

mr. eye roller -
my recommendation for using a flash drive app was followed by the conditional situation of being concerned with using a proxy at work in an office where IT had not included proxy sites in their filter definitions. no one doubts that the 1337 IT unit you represent has a tight grip on all unauthorized interweb use and any n00bs even thinking of Twittering at work would get so pwnt!!!!!!1111 pew pew pew _________________ ■ Silverstone SG02-F ■ AMD X2 7750 @ 3.2GHz ■ Biostar TA790GX XE µATX ■ Coolermaster GeminII S ■ 2x 2GB G.Skill DDR2 1066 ■ Galaxy 8800GT 512MB ■ Corsair HX520 ■ 2x 250GB Western Digital SE16 ■ |
