The sad thing is this happens over IRC all the time and lots of idiots actually get their account stolen. Glad that guy had some common sense, even better he was able to turn the trick around on him.

a friend and I actually did this to someone in D2.

My bro's friend stole some items lying on the ground when he was swapping the items to another character. He wouldn't give them back. So my friend decided to get revenge on him...

FFS, my friend's name is jay and bro's friend is clay.

jay got into battle.net chat with clay...saying he would close his account b/c of hacked items. clay claimed he has no hacked items, and doesnt know how either. jay said the only way to check and make sure would to log into his account and see for himself.

clay gave up his account user/pass...then obviously jay logs in and changes the password. we reclaim the items back to the right owner and evenly distribute the other items he had among the three of us.

jay deletes all of his characters, probably a few level 75+, and makes new characters with f-ed up names...like gay clay, dontever, giveyourpass, 2anyone....

clay has stopped playing diablo 2.
