Wheelin and Dealin Part 2...

So I bought a TV at Best Buy in January 2007... a 27" LCD for $500, plus the extended warranty for $50. It died due to me sending static through it after folding blankets in February 2008. They gave me full credit to buy a new TV, and I got a 32" LCD (60Hz 720p) for $50 more ($550) plus warranty for $99.

Fast forward almost 4 years to December 2011 and that TV is starting to die - blue stripe up the screen. I forget I had a warranty on it and let it go until in January 2012 when like magic I get an email suggesting I extend the warranty... Ooh, thanks for the reminder that I had coverage. Contact Best Buy again and they offer to replace the TV, and give full credit again! $550 plus tax goes a long way toward a TV these days.

I actually wound up with a Best Buy gift card for $588 today. Not sure what TV to get, but it could be a 46" or larger... 1080p... 120Hz... LED... based on the prices I see.

Damn!
Blhaaa... I got lotz to do.

Replace the carpet in our bathroom (yes, I said carpet in the bathroom... ours is the last one left, already did the other 2).

Get rid of the ton or two of rocks on the side of our house and put in probably a green house, maybe a shed to (so I can reclaim the garage for... vehicles).

Convert our "formal dining" area that isn't used for eating into a bar

Too much to do, not enough time.
Its been a bit quiet in here... have any of you been up to any projects at home?

My project

Right now I'm finishing my basement. It all started last year when the cast iron pipes beneath my basement floor decided to rot out and eventually become plugged. Since then I have dug-up the floor, replaced the cast with PVC, poured 4000lbs of concrete by hand, insulated and added framed walls along the outside perimeter of the basement. I'm routing electrical right now. Also included in the project is a full bath and a wet bar. This project has had PLENTY of scope creep!

Well - thats where I'm at... how about you guys?
This is the second case released in the MidGard series, following up on the popular original MidGard model. We're looking at the VisionTek Radeon HD 7970. It's a reference design, and comes a standard cooler and clocks that look to put the hurt on Nvidia's current offerings. Is it strong enough to fend off the GTX 580? Framerates tell some of the story, but what about temperatures? Power consumption? Gaming value? Let's take a closer look at the VisionTek HD 7970 and answer those questions for you. pureoverclock.com
ZOTAC’s quality GTX graphics cards have greatly improved in their performance and efficiency. ZOTAC made a stand as they proudly released their GTX 580, putting themselves on top of benchmarks since the GeForce GTX 480, which at one point was renowned in the industry. However, ZOTAC have push the bar even higher with the GTX 580’s big brother; the ZOTAC GTX 580 3GB AMP2 Edition which boasts a great performance boost over the normal GTX 580. hardwarelook.com
Overall, the NZXT Switch 810 is a very nice case to own. It is a very user friendly case with lots of options that allow you to customize and tweak your layout to your hearts content. It can be built as a great air cooled system, and can be quickly swapped out to support a large liquid cooling system and large graphics cards. It's your choice. bcchardware.com
Then, a specific friend of mine, while enjoying his food, said that there should be a USB cooling solution that would cool off his food. I kept that in mind during the holiday season, and decided to look for something along those lines as a product to write a lounge article on, since it has been a while since we last wrote about of this extent that doesn't fit into our normal review schemes. Lo and behold, we finally have said product that I distinctly recall talking about. Not only is it a USB fan from SilverStone, I also picked up an interesting version -- so to speak -- in tribute to my friend.
