Powermat does one thing; develop technology to wirelessly charge a variety of devices including mobile phones, media players, e-readers, laptops, and portable game systems. Currently their line-up includes two chargers, three charging adapters for iPods, four adapters for Blackberries, two adapters for the Nintendo DS, and the Powercube universal receiver with tips for many other devices.
Unlike several similar products, Powermat uses magnetic inductive charging. What this means is that no power is directly sent to the device being charged. So no electrical contacts are needed to charge the device. Powermat can allow you to charge up to four devices at a time (three wirelessly and one using an integrated USB port). This can reduce the need to find outlets for numerous charging bricks, which keeps things neat and can in turn help reduce the amount of power used.
