industrialPPC Fans:

The industrialPPC fans come in just two sizes - 120mm and 140mm - and we received three of each. As illustrated with the promotional image below, all industrialPPC fans feature a black frame and black blades, and the corners are accented with chocolaty colored AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) rubber pads. With a collection of other 120mm and 140mm fans on hand, including Noctua redux and standard models, the first thing that got my attention with these fans is that they physically feel more heavy duty. The frames are far more rigid and they are a bit heavier, too.

The first selection of fans we will check out are a pair of 140mm units that are both rated for 2000RPM maximum (with PWM). The difference between the two fans is that one is IP67 rated, which I wouldn't have assumed was possible in a computer fan. Having experience in industrial equipment, I know that IP67 is a desired specification which details the level of dust and water ingress protection the device has. IP67 is very high up the chart in terms of protection, so having a fan like this should provide great confidence that it is well suited for harsh environments. The 6 in the code means that it is completely dust tight - no solid particles are going to get in to the motor. The 7 in the code means that you can submerge it down to a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes and you won't get any harmful levels of water inside. Not saying it is completely water tight, but pretty close to a guarantee. Many devices offer protection against splashes of water (which would be represented by a 4 in the code), but this goes way beyond that!

The images below show the packaging for these two fans - front, rear, and opened. They look the same, despite the extra protection afforded by the IP67 version.

The next images show the packaging for the three 120mm fans we received from the industrialPPC series. One is rated for 3000RPM maximum and two are rated for 2000RPM maximum. Of the two 120mm 2000RPM models, one of these is also IP67 rated.

The final two images in this section show of the IP67 rated 120mm fan. Despite the added dust and water protection, they don't look any different in anyway that would indicate they are so well sealed. Of interest is that the back of the frames feature vanes for guiding the airflow. Instead of just a hub with four small spokes, this unit features eleven angled vanes that look like fan blades.
