For the past few years I have housed my desktop computers in full tower cases. This is mainly because of the extra room provided for installation, and it does make it easier for cable routing/hiding. Since my last review, of a compact
Synology NAS, I have become more interested in minimalist designs and I started gathering components for a small form factor (SFF) build. With a SFF computer there are much fewer options for aftermarket CPU heatsinks, as it is impossible to fit something like a heatpipe tower cooler in a small case.
For my SFF case I chose the Lian Li V351; it's a decent size case that can accommodate a good sized (but not oversized) cooler, as well as full length video cards. Since it has been a while since we worked with
Noctua on a review, we decided to ask them if they would be interested in sending over one of their more compact coolers to be tried out in this set up. The NH-C12P is a heatpipe cooler that uses a 120mm fan, but it has somewhat of a low profile and should be a snug fit in the Lian Li V351 case.
Before taking a look at the sample provided for review, lets take a look at some published data on it. For more information, please visit the
official product page on the Noctua website.
