Conclusion:

The Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive appears to be one of fastest USB 3.0 flash drives available today. The SiSoftware Sandra rank utility placed the 64GB review model at 7th place worldwide with a 472.9 IOPS device score (making it faster than 98% of all USB flash drives). If transfer speeds are important to you, this is certainly the drive to purchase. Our tests show you can write a 1GB file in less than ten seconds and read that same 1GB file in six seconds. Kingston has done a tremendous job of releasing a product that achieves the advertised 225MB/s read speed and came within 10% of the published 135MB/s write speed in a real-world large file transfers.

Obviously the performance and capacity of the 64GB Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive is going to be more expensive on a gigabyte per dollar basis than many other devices, especially those with 8GB or 32GB capacities. However, a little research shows the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 is selling for $149.99, while other six 64GB USB 3.0 drives for sale at Newegg.com range in price from $100 to $140. If you consider the average advertised transfer speeds to price you will find the Kingston HyperX30 is only bested by the Patriot Supersonic Magnum. While we did look at the 32GB Supersonic Magnum earlier this year, without a 64GB sample we can't assume the Patriot performs as closely to the Kingston does to its rated speeds.

As a result of its incredibly fast read/write performance and relatively low-cost when compared to other USB 3.0 devices, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64GB USB 3.0 flash drive earns the Bigbruin.com "Highly Recommended" and "Good Value" awards.

Highly Recommended Good Value
