Packaging:

The packaging for the Crucial Ballistix Elite 8GB DDR3 1600MHz kit consists of a simple clamshell design. The "Ballistix" brand name can be found all over the packaging but that's about it - no timings are listed, nor are there any references to the built-in thermal sensors, or the previously mentioned Ballistix MOD Utility software.

The Basics:

A close-up and overall view of the memory sticks is shown below. As stated, the finned heatsinks are black with the "Ballistix Elite" script etched onto the surface.

Also note the close-up of the label that identifies the memory specifications (8-8-8-24, at 1.5v) along with the associated part number. Finally, a picture of the memory placed over a $1 US bill. This memory is quite tall, as you can see from the picture. Make sure you have clearance around your aftermarket CPU cooler with this kit. Buyer beware!

Finally we have a "before" and "after" installation picture. Though a tight fit, the Ballistix does (barely) fit next to the medium sized Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Heatpipe CPU Cooler.
