OCZ Technology SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 Memory Kit
December 23, 2008

Configuration:

The OCZ Technology SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 dual channel memory kit was installed in a system with the following components for this review:

» Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 dual core processor
» Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU cooler
» eVGA NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI motherboard
» OCZ Technology EliteXStream 800W power supply
» Two Western Digital Raptor 10,000RPM 36GB 3.5" hard drives
» Seagate Barracuda 7,200RPM 80GB 3.5" SATA 3Gbps hard drive
» Seagate Barracuda 7200.11RPM 1TB 3.5” SATA 3Gbps hard drive
» eVGA GeForce 8800GTS G92 512MB video card
» Samsung 20x DVD Burner with LightScribe

The modules were installed into the black memory slots on the 790i motherboard, and the system was booted into the BIOS to take a look at the default settings. I went into the EPP area of the BIOS and set it to AUTO. After a reboot, I went back into the BIOS and found that the speed and timings of the memory were set to the following: FSB 1333MHz, RAM 2000MHz, 9-9-9-28 @ 1.8V. Note that the tRAS timing is 28, not 30 like the specifications from OCZ Technology's website states.

Once into Windows I started up CPU-Z (version 1.46) and took a look at the memory and SPD tabs. The memory tab showed that each module was running at 1000MHz (2000MHz DDR3) with the 9-9-9-28 timings. The SPD tab looked a little empty with just two profiles, and the fastest one was for DDR3 1333MHz with loose timings of 9-10-10-25, but only 1.5V.
