Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR3-1600 Dual Channel Memory Kit
June 25, 2008

Testing (continued):

Lavalys Everest Ultimate Edition:

Everest Ultimate Edition 4.20 from Lavalys was executed first. Four sets of results are provided, which include an analysis of memory read speed (in MB/s), memory write speed (in MB/s), memory copy speed (in MB/s), and memory latency (in ns). Higher values are better for read, write, and copy, while lower values are better for latency.

It might be difficult to compare one kit to the next with all of the entries in the chart above, but overall the Kingston HyperX kit fares very well... especially with the slight overclock. At 1600MHz it performs above average at copying and reading, while writing and latency results place it toward the back of the pack. With a quick glance it is hard to identify a clear cut winner in this test, and as we go on this trend will repeat itself. The performance of these kits is evenly matched, despite differences in timings and voltage requirements.

PassMark Performance Test:

PassMark's Performance Test v6.1 was executed next. This suite of benchmarks can analyze the performance of just about all system components, and it was used here to focus only on system memory. The composite "Memory Mark" value is shown in the chart below as an overall indication of the performance. Higher numbers are better for this unitless value.

The results put up by the Kingston kit were the lowest of any kit tested, but by such a small margin that the difference can hardly be of any concern. Considering only the 2GB kits tested (all but the G.Skill kit), the difference between best and worst is about 0.7%.
