Accessories:

The accessories for the Eagle Tech ET-CSIU2J-BK are shown below. You receive a resource CD, user manual, gray colored replacement face plate, USB cable, and power adapter. Not shown are the eight screws provided to secure two drives to the tray, and the four screws provided to secure the tray to the housing.

The image below is provided to show what the enclosure looks like with the stock orange face plate, as well as the optional gray face plate.

Testing:

Simpli Software's HD Tach 3.0.4.0 RW was executed on drives installed in the Eagle Tech enclosure to gauge its performance. Two Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 750GB drives were used in the ET-CSIU2J-BK JBOD External Storage System, and they were tested head-to-head with a Seagate FreeAgent Pro that uses the same 750GB drive. Higher values are better for Burst Speed and Average Read Speed, while lower values are better for CPU Usage and Access Time. The chart below shows that the performance of the Eagle Tech enclosure isn't as good as the FreeAgent Pro, and from my experience it is slower than many other single drive enclosures tested recently.

Chart

Using the JBOD controller in the ET-CSIU2J-BK to span two 750GB into one 1.5TB volume could definitely impact performance. While spanning allows you to add drives (even if they are of different sizes) together to effectively form one large drive, it is possible to keep the two drives separate with this enclosure. If you install at least one into the ET-CSIU2J-BK pre-formatted, the partition will remain in place. I did this, and while it showed up in Windows Disk Management as one physical disk, both 750GB partitions were available separately.
