Super Talent T1000UX2G5 2GB PC2-8000 DDR2 Memory Kit
April 20, 2007

Conclusion:

The Super Talent T1000UX2G5 2GB PC2-8000 DDR2 Memory Kit performs great at its advertised speed of 1000MHz and fairly relaxed (5-5-5-15) timings. Using more aggressive timings (4-4-4-12) allowed this memory to operated error-free up to 1075MHz. Changing the timings back to the default 5-5-5-15 allowed the memory to run stably at 1200MHz, however the more relaxed timings made performance suffer. Regardless of memory speeds or timings (or even brands) all of the benchmarks showed similar performance.

A search of PriceGrabber shows that this memory kit can be purchased for just under $300 (US). If you are looking for a memory kit that won't hold back your overclocking capabilities it's safe to say the Super Talent T1000UX2G5 2GB PC2-8000 DDR2 Memory Kit will work well for you.

Most users will find its hard to justify the differences in cost when you consider the PC2-6400 memory used as a point of reference during testing netted nearly the same performance as the relatively expensive Super Talent memory kit reviewed here today. However, if you get past the cost and consider that this memory reached 1200MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings, it is worth considering since it obviously won't be holding back the rest of your system.

Pros:

» Runs stable at advertised 1000MHz and relaxed 5-5-5-15 timings
» Stable (no errors) at 1200MHz (5-5-5-15) or 1075MHz (4-4-4-12)
» Blue heatspreaders look nice

Cons:

» Small to no improvement in performance while overclocking
» Cost is relatively high considering the PC2-6400 reference performance
