Vizo Propeller Card Cooler and Mirrorbox Card Reader
August 07, 2006

Conclusion:

These two devices were a nice introduction to Vizo. Each of them worked flawlessly and performed their duties reliably. I will be interested to see what Vizo can offer in the future.

The Propeller is a simple, but attractive, device that can provide additional cooling to your video card, or other expansion card that might benefit from some airflow. The only negative I can see with the Propeller is the fan controller, as I would like a way to control the fan speed without having to access the back of my computer. That said, having the slider built in to the back of the expansion slot is a good idea, and is obviously far better than no fan control at all.

Like the Propeller, there is nothing technically wrong with the Mirrorbox. In fact, the only negative is a personal preference, and that would be to have the cable integrated into the device. This would allow you to take the Mirrorbox with you without having to carry a separate cable.

Propeller Pros:

» Provides additional cooling to GPU and video memory
» Could fit between SLI or Cross-Fire cards
» Can operate in near silence
» Integrated fan controller
» Stylish design

Propeller Cons:

» Fan controller requires accessing rear of computer
» Loud at high speed

Mirrorbox Pros:

» Decent transfer speeds
» Compact aluminum housing
» Stylish design

Mirrorbox Cons:

» Integrated USB cable would be nice
