Thermaltake Purepower Power Express 250W SLI PSU
August 21, 2006

Conclusion:

Thermaltake has once again amazed me, with this very unique product. This could possibly be the answer many enthusiasts have been looking for; a device that gives users the ability to invest in an SLI system without having to make a huge investment in upgrading power supplies.

Key features include the typically high Thermaltake quality, surprisingly stable voltage rail readings, and an extremely easy installation. The sleek design is not only functional, but it is also appealing to the eye.

However, a few things could have been improved upon, such as the large unwrapped 24-pin power connector, and the small unshielded metal pin on the 4-pin connector.

A search of PriceGrabber for this product returns a few results starting at $44.99, which is not bad considering a full upgrade to a quality SLI ready power supply could cost as much as $200 or more.

Given the high quality, excellent performance, easy installation, and low cost of the Thermaltake Purepower Power Express 250W model W0099RU, it easily earns a final rating of "Highly Recommended".

Pros:

» Unique design
» Stable Voltage
» Easy Installation
» Fits in 5.25" drive bay
» Price

Cons:

» Oversized 24pin connector not wrapped
» Unshielded metal pin
» Missing screw
