NZXT Apollo Orange Midtower Case
August 04, 2006

Internal Examination:

Removing the side panel is simple and tool-less thanks to NZXT including two thumbscrews. Here you can see the interior of the case. Nothing unusual happening here. Let's take a closer look at some of the areas.

Starting at the top you have the 5.25" drive bays, and you can see the tool-less locks used. When you slide your devices in you can line the holes on the device up with the holes on the rails, then slide the lock into place. Once the lock has been slid into place, you can slide the secure lock into place by pressing it down. These are easy to use and worked really well. However, I did notice there was a sharp little burr on the lock mechanism that could easily cut a finger.

Moving down the case, we have the 3.5" drive bays and the tool-less hard drive bays. The 3.5" drive bays can also hold hard drives. I did have some issues installing hard drives in here. They are very tight and I really had to push to install them. Also, the locks did not lock the drives into place. The tool-less hard drive bays worked perfectly though! Once you attach the hard drive rails, they simply slide and lock into place.

In addition to the standard bag of screws, NZXT has included three sets of tool-less hard drive rails. Here you can see the three sets, as well as attached to a hard drive. These rails are totally tool-less, there are no screws to secure them to your drive, they simply pop into the screw holes on your drive.

Towards the rear of the case we have the tool-less expansion slots. These are familiar as they are used on many cases. You simply press the top of it, and they swing upwards to open. Once you have your card in place, you press them down and they lock back into place.
