Cooler Master Mars and Eclipse CPU Coolers
October 31, 2006

Eclipse Installed:

Before I get to the installation, we have some included accessories. Most of the accessories are for installation on the Intel platform. As usual, Cooler Master has included everything you need for the supported CPUs. There is a detailed installation manual, Cooler Master thermal grease, Intel mounting bracket with all the necessary screws, washers, and nuts. Cooler Master has also included a unique screwdriver adapter to secure the nuts. The final accessories are the AMD clips.

Now that we know everything about the cooler, let's take a look at it installed.

Thankfully there are two ways this cooler can be installed on AMD CPUs. The first allows you to use the bracket through the slots provided on the side. The second allows you to slide the bracket through the fins to mount the cooler in a different direction. This installation is pure genius for a cooler of this size. Had I installed it with the bracket through the AMD mounting holes, I would not have been able to access my RAM as the cooler would have been resting against it. Even in the optional orientation there is not very much room between the cooler and the RAM, but just enough to get in there.

Here are two additional views of the area around the cooler. As you can see there is not a lot of room to spare on most of the sides. Only one side provided enough room for comfort, and easy access to the components. A final word on the size... Be aware of how tall this cooler is! If you have a full height video card, and there is not at least 2 inches between the card and the side panel, I doubt this cooler will fit.
